[SOLVED]keyboard settings on freestyle server

Hi all,
just wanna know if somebody else has experimented my issue (yes, another...please, don't hate me !), I've still observed it many weeks ago but I forgot to write about it. The issue is related with keybord settings.
On my notebook I use cursor keys for movement and I've set the others keys in order to have telefrag on "SHIFT" key and sniper on "SPACE" key.
During gameplay on freestyle server, unfortunately these settings seem to be overided by other (standard ?) settings: telefrag is automatically set on "1" key while sniper on "0" key, "SPACE" and "SHIFT" keys do not work ! this is pretty unfair, almost for a noob like me: I play with the lights turned off and so, while I'm looking for the correct keys (1 and 0), I feel like a blind man playing a piano !
Odd thing: if I play on 1on1 server in Classic Arena, my personal settings are indeed valid (i.e. restored) and so I can play in CA online as I do locally or in LAN. Why ?
May the CoN sniper mutator overide my personal keyboard settings ? Are there any solutions ?

Some of what you describe, I have noticed, are caused by UTPure. No real fix for it other than set your keys up a different way.
But I do not know if CON uses UTPure. |

-=CoN=- does not use UTPure or have anyting to override settings or key binds.
Is this every time you are on the Freestyle server?
Does anyone else have this issue on the freestyle server?

It happens always on the freestyle server.
And it happens always too on the 1on1 server with sniper/bolt action rifle. In Classic Arena mode my personal settings indeed work well. |

I have tested this and I get the same results. I will look into the mutators and see what is causing it.
Since the server has always just had a rifle and trans I just setup the next weapon key. Since there are only 2 it always swaps back and forth as needed.
I will let you know what I find.

Ok I found a solution. When you set space for the sniper rifle and shift for the translocator it writes this to the user.ini:
Space=getweapon SniperRifle
Shift=getweapon Translocator
If you look at what the user.ini has set for the 0 and 1 key it is this:
0=SwitchWeapon 10
1=SwitchWeapon 1
What appears to be happening is the game is calling the weapons by default class name when you set up the keys for them. With modified weapons they do not have the same class name, but they do have the same inventory number. So what you need to do is this:
- Open your user.ini in the system folder
- Find the key that you bound the sniper rifle to (in your case and this example it is the space bar)
- Replace getweapon SniperRifle with SwitchWeapon 10
- Then find the key that you bound the translocator to (in your case and this example it is the shift key)
- Replace getweapon Translocator with SwitchWeapon 1
- Save and close and that should work for you.

thanks for the rapid solution, I've just tested it on the server and it works fine. Now I feel better, in future I won't look for the correct keys in the darkness.
Your keys setup is perfect if you play only on CoN server with 2 weapons but it would not be nice if you play on DM with all weapons. What I can do eventually is using 2 different user.ini files for online sniper and online/local DM without needing to change parameters each time.

Hey glad it worked for you. Yeah I just never tried it since the -=CoN=- server is pretty much all I play on, but I can see how in classic DM it would come in handy.
