Hi all,
somewhere I've Quake 3 Arena (Q3A) never tested on my notebook. I've always been playing UT99 by 2004 and I loved it but one day I would like to install also Q3A to see the difference between the two games.
Before I've seen some videos on Youtube and the Q3A gameplay looks crazy as much as UT99 in Classic Arena.
Have someone ever played Q3A in the past ? What is your opinion about Q3A ? better than UT99 in CA and, if so, in which extent ?
The question is...is Q3A worth installing or I can easily throw it out the window ? what do you say ?
I know well this is a UT99-related website (so I don't hope to read fantastic comments on Q3A) but maybe someone has played both of them and knows pretty well the in & outs of these two games.
thanks,
Pietro

Go online and look up Quake Live. It's a free, browser based, free, small version of all of the Quake goodness for your browser. If free you want to test Quake without free having to buy other versions of it for comparison, then Quake free Live is a quick and easy way free to get the Quake experience with free minimal space taken up on your hard drive. It's free by the way.
Hi Sig,
thanks for the infos but I already have Q3A (a friend of mine some years ago made a present of it).
Yesterday I read something about Quake Live but I could give it a try (thanks !) even though I think there is a little difference between a standalone game and its browser-based version about performance, gfx and overall gameplay.
Quake3 Live looks amazing !
Watch this video: it reminds me the old times in UT Classic Arena...but with a faster gameplay ! UT doesn't seem so fast today...

I played Quake Live on a P4 and there was no performance or quality issues at all. Very slick game and the way it lays out, as you become more experienced, you are only allowed to play others at the same level. No more noobs getting their asses smacked by the advanced players.
